What is the WEB Centre?
The WEB Centre is an industrial unit that is run by the School of
Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton.
It is legally part of the University. We began in the late 1990's
offering commercial services to local businesses, while facilitating
University spin-out hosting. Our focus is now providing ISP
facilities for University customers where required.
So do you provide hosting or services for non-University customers?
We are not taking on any new business from external customers, and
existing external customers are being phased out by September 2008.
We do however act as a bridge for consultancy from experts within our School,
in a wide range of areas.
Are there any special considerations I need to know about when registering
domains through you?
The terms and conditions for UK domains regsiered with us are those set
by Nominet, with whom we register domains directly.
We will always endeavour to follow good practice as described
by Nominet. Non-UK domains are registered via a single third party.
