The Wolfson Electronic Business Centre (WEB Centre) is run from within
the School of Electronics and
Computer Science (ECS)
at the University of Southampton.
The WEB Centre acts as a
channel through which University research and spin-off ventures can be
given an electronic presence. This may be as simple as registering
domains on a per-project basis which forward to existing sites, or
advising on and/or setting up specific project servers.
We can, subject to certain conditions, offer black-box hosting for projects.
Our email hosting includes anti-virus protection and spam (junk email)
marking free of charge. We have been active in developing open source
solutions to tackle both problems.
We also offer specialised consultancy. Examples include IPv6 consultancy,
knowledge representation systems, agent-based computing solutions
and assistance if required in deploying our low cost e-mail virus and
spam detection software.
NB. As of August 31st 2008 we no longer provide commercial ISP functions
for external businesses. Our existing customers have been informed of
the closure of external service, which will complete on September 30th
2008.
